    • Slave / Peripheral: The passive device (e.g., sensors, wearables) that broadcasts data (advertising) and waits for a master to connect.
    • Master-Slave Integrated: Many modules can switch between roles or handle both, allowing for flexible bidirectional communication. 
    Popular BLE Master-Slave Modules (2026) 
    • RF-Star CC2640R2F: BLE 5.1, UART module, often used for IoT.
    • HC-08: Common, affordable BLE 4.0 module that supports both roles.
    • IOTRHA RHA-BT102M: BLE 5.2, low power, long-range. 
    Key Differences & Topologies 
    • Connection: A master can connect to multiple slaves, but a slave can generally only connect to one master, forming a star topology.
    • Data Transfer: Data is moved via Read, Write, Notify, or Indicate, with typical payloads of up to 20-22 bytes (though newer standards allow larger).
    • Distinction from GATT: While Master/Slave refers to the link layer (how they connect), Client/Server refers to the GATT layer (how they exchange data). A Master can be a Client or Server, and vice-versa.
