    Drilling Process and Considerations 
    UV DPSS lasers, particularly in the nanosecond pulse range, are widely used for drilling plastics, medical components, and printed circuit boards (PCBs) due to their precision and lack of thermal effects. 
    • Pulsed Operation: Pulsed UV lasers (e.g., at 30-100 kHz frequency) are necessary for material removal, as the high peak power in each pulse vaporizes the material. Continuous Wave (CW) lasers are generally used for marking or low-power applications.
    • Power and Speed Settings: Achieving optimal drilling results requires balancing laser power and scan speed. High power and appropriate speeds are used to ensure the material is fully ablated in controlled layers, leading to smooth internal walls and clean edges.
    • Multilayer Processing: For through-holes in thicker plexiglass, the process often involves multiple passes or specific z-axis control to achieve the desired depth and maintain hole quality.
