This post captures an autonomous sorting robot system, often called "Little Orange" robots, used in highly automated Chinese warehouses. These robots are designed to sort packages efficiently by navigating a specialized floor to designated drop-off points.
System Details
Manufacturer: The robots were developed by Hikvision.
Operating Locations: This technology is utilized by major Chinese logistics firms, including Shentong (STO) Express in cities like Hangzhou and Linyi.
Efficiency: A fleet of these robots can sort up to 200,000 packages per day. In some facilities, they have reduced labor costs by approximately 50%.
Functionality:
Sorting Process: Robots scan package barcodes in milliseconds to calculate the optimal route.
Delivery: Once they reach the correct destination on the floor, they flip their lids or tilt to drop the package into an underground sorting bin.
Self-Maintenance: The robots are self-charging and automatically return to charging stations when their power is low.

Figure AI’s Figure 03 humanoid robot shows it can sort soft packages on its own. In the 56 second video, the robot picks items from a pile, checks the label, and places them face down on a conveyor. Marc Benioff tests it by rejecting items that are placed incorrectly, which shows the system can respond to feedback.
This task is important because soft object handling is difficult for robots. Packages can change shape, which makes them harder to grab and control. A 2024 IEEE study found that similar systems only reached about 65 percent success in uncontrolled settings. Figure’s system appears to improve on this by using a vision based approach that connects what the robot sees directly to how it moves.

This is one of China’s fully automated warehouses—where robots do EVERYTHING.
AI-powered sorting systems scan, route, and move parcels in seconds—faster than any human crew.
No breaks. No mistakes. No delays.
Thousands of robots glide across the floor, lifting shelves, delivering packages, and organizing orders 24/7.
Each parcel is tracked in real time using advanced computer vision—so nothing gets lost.
This single warehouse can process OVER 200,000 parcels a day… with ZERO human workers inside.
This isn’t the future… it’s already happening.
