A sturdy machine:
A cheap or flimsy machine may struggle, but most modern or older, heavy-duty machines can handle it.
Denim or jeans needle:
This is essential. Needles specifically made for denim are stronger and sharper. A size #90/14 is good for standard denim, while a #100/16 or #110/18 is better for thicker varieties.
Strong thread:
Use a strong, high-quality thread. For topstitching, you can use a thick decorative thread, but use a regular thread in the bobbin.
Walking foot (optional but recommended):
A walking foot helps feed multiple layers of fabric evenly, preventing skipped stitches and bunching.
"Hump jumper" tool (optional):
