    How to test for a bad wheel bearing
    1. Check for play (with the vehicle on a jack):
      • Safely lift the front of the truck so the wheel is off the ground.
      • Grasp the tire at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions and try to rock it back and forth.
      • Grasp the tire at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions and try to rock it side-to-side.
      • Any noticeable movement or play in these directions indicates a bad wheel bearing or other worn suspension component.
    2. Spin the wheel:
      • While the wheel is off the ground, spin it by hand.
      • Listen for any grinding, scraping, or rumbling sounds, as shown in this YouTube video . A bad bearing will often make a noise when spun.
