    • High-End Audio: Used heavily in preamplifier and microphone transformers for low distortion and high signal transparency.
    • Sensors: Used in precision current transformers and magnetic shielding applications.
    • Low-Level Signal Processing: Where maximum inductance is required with minimal energy loss. 
    Design Considerations 
    • Annealing: Mu-metal must be annealed in a hydrogen furnace at 1100–1200°C to achieve its high-permeability, grain-oriented structure, and this performance can be destroyed if the metal is shocked or bent later.
    • Lamination Shape: Available in traditional EI, EE, and UI configurations.
    • Hybrid Cores: Sometimes mixed with silicon steel to combine the high permeability of mu-metal with the higher saturation level of steel. 
    Note: For maximum performance, proper magnetic shielding (often using higher thickness mu-metal) is also recommended for transformers sensitive to environmental electromagnetic fields.
