What is a torsion bar?

How it works

Fixed end:

One end of the steel bar is securely attached to the vehicle's frame or chassis.
Lever arm:

The other end is connected to a lever arm that is attached to the wheel's axle.
Twisting action:

As the wheel hits a bump, the lever arm pushes upward, twisting the torsion bar.
Spring effect:

The bar resists this twisting motion, and its spring-like elasticity forces the suspension back to its original position when the force is removed.
