    • Keyway Wear: The key in a keyed screw jack can cause greater wear on the internal drive threads.
    • Efficiency: Worm gear mechanisms often have low efficiency due to sliding friction.
    • Lubrication: Proper lubrication is essential, particularly for the key in keyed models. 
    For specialized requirements, such as high speed or high duty cycles, ball screw actuators or specific thread types (like Acme) are chosen.
