    • Removable Terminal Block: Uses the 1746-RT34 (RTB) for wiring field devices. 
    Programming the 1746-NT8 (Conceptual Steps) 
    1. Hardware Installation: Install the module into the SLC 500 chassis.
    2. Software Configuration (RSLogix 500/SLC 500 Software):
      • Add Module: Add the 1746-NT8 module to your I/O configuration in the software.
      • Channel Configuration: For each of the 8 channels, you must enable/disable it and select:
        • Thermocouple Type: J, K, T, etc., or mV range.
        • Units: Celsius or Fahrenheit.
        • Broken Input Handling: What to do if a sensor wire breaks (zero, upscale, downscale, or disable).
      • Data Format: Choose raw or scaled engineering units.
    3. One-Time Scan: The card needs to be initialized with its configuration, typically a one-time scan when the PLC goes into run mode.
    4. Ladder Logic: Read the input image (data words/status words) from the module into your ladder logic program for processing. 
    In essence, the 1746-NT8 handles the physical sensing and conversion, while the SLC 500 software configures how it senses and the main PLC program uses the data.
