    Primary Components of a Screw Jack 
    • Lifting Screw (Lead Screw): The central shaft, typically featuring trapezoidal or Acme threads, that moves linearly to push or pull the load.
    • Nut (Lifting Nut): Threaded component that mates with the screw. In translating jacks, the nut is fixed within the housing; in travelling nut designs, the nut moves along a rotating screw.
    • Worm Gear: Driven by the input shaft to turn the lifting screw or nut.
    • Worm Shaft (Input Shaft): Rotates the worm gear to initiate motion, often operated by a motor or hand wheel.
    • Gear Housing: Contains the gearing, bearings, and lubricants, providing structural support.
    • Bearings (Thrust/Roller): Positioned at the top and bottom of the drive sleeve/worm gear to manage high axial loads and reduce friction.
    • Protection Tube (Optional): Covers the extended portion of the lifting screw to protect it from dust and damage.

    • Translating Screw: The screw moves up and down through the gear housing while the worm gear rotates.
    • Keyed (Non-Rotating) Screw: The screw is keyed to the housing, forcing it to move linearly without rotating.
