    AI Overview
Technical Grade Urea (specifically automotive-grade or AUS32-grade) is the high-purity, formaldehyde-free raw material required to produce AdBlue (AUS32). It is not interchangeable with standard agricultural fertilizer, as it must be free from biuret, aldehydes, and heavy metals to prevent irreversible damage to Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems in diesel engines.
    Key Specifications for AdBlue Production
    • Grade Type: Technical Grade / Automotive Grade Urea (uncoated).
    • Purity: >99.5%.
    • Urea Concentration: 32.5% in deionized water (final solution).
    • Standard: Must comply with ISO 22241 or DIN 70070.
    • Biuret Content: ≤ 0.3%.
    • Aldehyde Content: Free.
    Difference from Other Urea Grades
    • Automotive Grade Urea: Highly purified, free from contaminants, designed specifically for SCR systems.
    • Fertilizer Grade Urea: Lower purity (95-98%), contains higher biuret (>1%), and has harmful contaminants not suitable for vehicles.
    • Technical/Industrial Grade Urea: Used for resins and adhesives, can only be used for AdBlue if it meets strict ISO 22241 standards.
    Production Requirements
    • Mixing Ratio: 32.5 kg of urea with 67.5 kg of demineralized water.
    • Water Quality: Requires deionized/demineralized water, not tap water, to avoid contaminants.
    • Temperature: Process occurs at 25-50°C (77-122°F), with cooling afterward.
Using low-quality urea can cause clogging of the SCR system, increased exhaust emissions, and engine failure.
For large-scale, high-quality production of AdBlue, I can provide more details about the technical aspects of the production process.

What is the difference between technical urea and agricultural urea?
Agricultural urea is designed primarily for efficient fertilization, rather than for applications requiring the high levels of purity characteristic of industry or automobiles. In contrast, the automotive product and properly selected technical urea must meet more stringent quality requirements.Mar 27, 2026
