    S-Seal (Spring Seal) 
    • Design: A robust, static seal with springs on the internal surface, designed for tough conditions.
    • Function: Often used to seal the bushing's outer diameter (OD) against the wellhead body, or internally with an FS-Seal for combined high-pressure sealing.
    • Benefits: Reliable high-pressure sealing (e.g., 15,000+ psi), good for static applications. 
    Conventional Wellhead Context 
    • Application: Both are used in conventional (stacked) wellheads, which are common but designed for less extreme conditions than unconventional wellheads.
    • Improvement: They offer a modern upgrade over older multi-piece seals that required injection of plastic packing to activate, making operations safer and simpler.
