A foam soap dispenser is hard to push usually due to soap buildup clogging the tiny mesh screen/air intake, a jammed spring, or incorrect soap-to-water ratio, causing it to feel "glued" or stiff; fix it by running the pump in hot water, unclogging the spout with a paperclip, or diluting your soap with more water/using distilled water for refills to prevent future clogging.

This video shows you how to fix a stubborn pump by cleaning the filter:

Hot Water Flush:
Unscrew the pump and pump it repeatedly in a cup of very hot (not scalding) water until it runs clear and freely.

Pay attention to the air intake slit on the lid and clear it out.
Deep Clean (Disassembly):
Carefully disassemble the pump head (there's a tiny ball bearing inside, don't lose it!).

Soak all parts in hot water and dish soap to dissolve buildup.

Use a paperclip to clear the nozzle and air holes.
Check/Adjust Soap Ratio:
If using refill soap, add more water (e.g., 40% soap to 60% water) or use distilled water to prevent mineral buildup.
Check for Child Locks/Twist Locks:
Some new dispensers have a collar you need to hold or twist to unlock before pumping.
