    How it Works (with a Ballast Regulator) 
    1. Shoulder Ploughing: Hydraulic ploughs on the machine's sides pull ballast from the track area towards the shoulders, forming the desired slope (often 0° to 45°).
    2. Crown Ploughing: A front/center plough distributes ballast between the rails to the correct height.
    3. Sweeping: A sweeper unit clears loose stones from sleeper (tie) surfaces.
    4. Disposal/Storage: Surplus ballast is either dropped to the side or moved via conveyor to a hopper for reuse.
