CLIA is widely used for a variety of diagnostic tests because it has a broader dynamic range and is significantly more sensitive than older techniques like ELISA. Common tests run on these systems include: 
  • Endocrinology: Thyroid panels (e.g., ultrasensitive TSH), fertility testing, and hormone tracking.
  • Infectious Diseases: Detecting antibodies and antigens for pathogens such as HIV, Hepatitis (B/C), and respiratory illnesses.
  • Oncology: Measuring tumor markers for cancer screening and monitoring.
  • Cardiology: Assessing cardiac markers like troponin for heart attacks.

  • Throughput: Large central-lab systems (such as the Mindray CL-6000i) can process up to 480 tests per hour.
  • Space Efficiency: Compact, benchtop CLIA systems are available for smaller clinics or Point-of-Care (POC) testing, delivering results in as little as 10 minutes.
