    • Melamine Moulding Compound (MMC): Harder and more moisture-resistant than urea. Ideal for food-grade, high-quality tableware, decorative laminates, and sturdy buttons.
    • Common Properties: Excellent dimensional stability, high-temperature resistance, and good, scratch-resistant surface finish. 
    Commonly Used Additives:
    To make these resins into usable molding compounds, manufacturers add: 
    • Fillers: Cellulose is added to improve tensile strength and reduce shrinkage.
    • Hardeners/Catalysts: Ammonium chloride accelerates the curing process.
    • Lubricants & Colorants: Used for easier processing and aesthetic purposes. 
    These compounds are generally delivered as powder or granular forms, which are then heated and molded under pressure into the final product.
