    Key Characteristics of Discharge Binders 
    • Soft Hand Feel: The binder leaves the natural fibers behind, resulting in a soft, vintage feel that feels like the garment, not a print.
    • Color Discharging: Allows for the replacement of the original fabric dye with new pigment colors (localized dyeing).
    • High Performance: Provides high wash/rubbing fastness and is often formaldehyde-free. 
    Usage Guidelines 
    • Mixing: Discharge binders are typically mixed with 1–10% pigments and 3–6% activator (discharge powder), depending on the desired color intensity.
    • Application: Ideal for 100% cotton fabrics dyed with dischargeable reactive, indigo, or vat dyes.
    • Curing: Requires heat curing, typically around 150°C (
      300∘

      ) to 170°C for 2–3 minutes to activate the discharge process.       
    Common Products 
    • Matsui Brite Discharge Base (milky base for high color vibrancy).
    • Indofil ESVS/ITBL (self-crosslinking acrylics).
    • Discharge Binder PRD-200 (for high compatibility and soft handle).
    • DOWSIL™ Print 041 (silicone-based, high elasticity). 
    Note: The print often looks faint before going through the dryer, as the chemical reaction occurs during heat curing.
