    Key Aspects of Packaged Mu Metal Cores: 
    • Material: Composed of high-permeability MuMetal (nickel-iron alloy), often with chromium or copper, designed for low coercive force and high shielding attenuation.
    • Types:
      • Stacking/Laminated Cores: Laminated stacks (0.2–0.35 mm thick) used for Hall sensors, current sensors, and clamp ammeters to concentrate magnetic flux.
      • Toroidal Cores: Available in various diameters, often used for sensing applications, sometimes supplied in specialized cans.
      • Encased/Shielding Cans: Deep-drawn cans, such as those discussed on the EEVblog forum, protect sensitive circuits and transformers from magnetic fields.

    Note: MuMetal is often heat-treated to achieve high permeability and can lose its magnetic shielding efficiency if subjected to mechanical stress (bending, cutting) after annealing.
