    AI Overview
Shining glazing for decal paper (waterslide) varies by application: ceramic overglaze decals require firing (cone 08–019) to create a glossy finish, while hobby/craft decals use clear acrylic spray sealant. For high-gloss ceramic results, apply decals onto glossy, fired glazes (like Amaco Celadon/Mixing Clear) and fire at cone 06–09.
    Key Shining and Glazing Options:
    • Ceramic Overglaze Firing (Permanent): After applying, fire at lower temperatures, typically cone 016-017 for glass/porcelain (around 1380°F) or cone 06-09 for others, to melt the toner and flux into the glaze.
    • Commercial Ceramic Glazes: Use glossy glazes like Amaco Celadon, Aqua, or Mixing Clear (2-3 parts) mixed with color (1 part) for a shiny finish over decals.
    • Melamine Glazing Powder: Special shining melamine powder is used specifically for finishing decorated melamine tableware.
    • Craft Clear Coat (Non-Fired): For non-ceramic items (plastic, wood), spray 2–3 light coats of clear acrylic sealer over the dry decal for a glossy protective layer.
    • Holographic Film: Clear holographic vinyl can be applied over decals for a shiny, holographic effect.
    Important Tips for Best Results:
    • Laser Printer: Use a laser printer for ceramics so the iron oxide in the toner creates a proper, permanent fired image.
    • Smooth Surface: Glossy, thick glazes absorb the decal better, resulting in a more integrated, shiny finish compared to matte glazes.
    • Ventilation: Properly ventilate your kiln, particularly below 500°F during the slow firing process.
