    BiDi (Bidirectional) SFP transceivers enable10/100/1000 Mbps or 10G data transmission over a single strand of fiber optic cable, rather than the traditional two. They use Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) to send and receive different wavelengths (e.g., 1310nm/1490nm or 1310nm/1550nm) on one strand. BiDi SFPs cut fiber usage in half, reducing cabling costs and complexity, and are generally used with LC or SC simplex connectors.

    • Cost Savings: By using only one strand, you can save up to 50% on fiber cabling and patch panel ports, making them ideal for telecom providers and data centers with limited fiber resources.
    • Wavelength Matching: BiDi SFPs must be paired correctly—a unit with a 1310nm-TX/1490nm-RX must be paired with a 1490nm-TX/1310nm-RX on the other end.
